Boatshed Files 4th October 2008Well, more exciting times in the studio - Shona Laing has started recording a new album of fantastic Shona songs, due for release end of March 2009. Shona & I spent 3 days doing pre-production, including demos, last month. Recording began mid-September with Ian "Beano" Gilpin coming in to play the drum parts. Shona & I played along of course adding guitar & bass parts to cement the rhythm tracks in place – live sound, Yay! So, we have 9 rhythm tracks in place, 3 more to record, the last 3 will be Shona & Nigel with some possible overdubs from acoustic guitar legend James Wilkinson. James will be flying up to the studio straight after Christmas to play all his parts.
& in other news, Cattlestops guitar man & long time friend, Dave Berry, will be spending a couple of days at the studio in October, catching up over poolside drinks & talking his usual blend of technicomedy to keep everyone entertained. Dave was a member of The Puppettz back in the early eighties & considered the first-call session guitar player around Wellington at the time. NM. |
