|
![]() Baycourt 27th October 2007 (more Pics Coming Soon!)On October 27th the band were invited to put together a concert – under the banner The Songs of Bob Dylan - as part of the Tauranga Arts Festival. The band were joined by two of New Zealand's most distinctive singer/songwriters, Shona Laing (who recently recorded her new album at Nigel's Boatshed Studio) and Barry Saunders from the fantastic country band The Warratahs. In addition to our regular Tauranga compadres Mike Kirk (electric guitar) and Ian “Beano” Gilpin (drums), the band were also joined by the incredible Nigel Gavin – who played on the upcoming album of Dylan tunes, In The Well – with his guitar, mandolin and banjo. The evening kicked off with three songs from The John Michaelz Gospel Quartet, and at the end, everyone was on stage and each singer sang a verse of Rainy Day Women #12 & 35. Derek and Nigel came back on and the two of them played Tomorrow Is A Long Time before the whole ensemble gathered for a final rendition of Blowin' In The Wind, led by Shona.
