The End Of The World (Came Today) (D. Jacombs/J. Michaelz)

Well this was obviously a fairly lighthearted joke song. John and I decided that it would be a fun idea to write a cheerful song about the end of the world and polished most of it off in under an hour.

You can kick like a mule, act like a fool
Throw your arms up in the air
Stay home and cry while you wither inside
      Ain't nobody going to care
      Nobody's building arks any more
The ships have all sailed away
'Cause the end of the world came today
The end of the world came today

You can act like a clown, burn your house down
Bury your head in the sand
Get down on you knees, learn to speak Japanese
But no one's going to understand
You can spend your time reading Norman Mailer
      Or Ernest Hemmingway
But the end of the world came today
The end of the world came today

You can worship the Pope or abandon all hope
You could even be the head of the Klan
You could be a Sunday school teacher or a big TV preacher
Or even just a confidence man
You can preach your sermons like it was on the mount
      Nobody's listening anyway

'Cause the end of the world came today
The end of the world came today
