Superheroes (D. Jacombs/J. Michaelz)

I started writing this about 11 or 12 years ago while travelling round China, then promptly lost my notebook. I found it again last year, kept only the first verse and finished it off with John's help.

Mighty Mouse is chewing on his macho gum again
Searching for more muscle as the answer to his pain
Outside on the street corner they're burning foreign effigies
If reason was our home, we would all be left as refuges

      CHORUS

In the blink of an eye, in a twist of fate
Take a look at the sky, 'cause it already may be too late
Where are all the superheroes when we need them to get down?
Where are all the superheroes when what goes around comes round?
It's coming round, coming round, coming round
Coming round, coming round, coming round

"All for one and one for all" the protest singer cried
Before the networks pulled the plug and kissed his ass goodbye
If we lived in China they would lock us up and torture us
But stranded here in paradise they barely give a thought to us

      CHORUS

Someone call for Tarzan it's a jungle here you know
With all the bad guys hanging out and wearing good guys clothes
Superman and Peter Pan are growing old before their time
While Sherlock Holmes is shooting up to try and solve the perfect crime

      CHORUS
