Living In Limbo (D. Jacombs/J. Michaelz)

An interesting and useless bit of information: the "abandon hope all who enter here" line is a paraphrase of a line from Dante's Inferno. I discovered later that he was the writer who originally proposed the religious concept of limbo.

Uncle Bob once said to me:
"Don't Ever be surprised by what you see"
Now I've seen a lot of things and it ain't funny
You're the only one that surprised me, honey
I was unkind, I was untrue
But I never expected the same from you

      CHORUS

      Now I'm living in limbo
And it's an excellent place to be
      Living in limbo
Baby take a little walk with me in limbo

The night was dark and thick and still
I was sitting alone on top of the hill
Yesterday's tales are too strange to tell
I was uglier then, ah, but what the hell
I looked at the wall, I looked at myself
Then I grabbed another bottle down off the shelf

      CHORUS

Now don't try to tell me that life ain't fair
'Cause everybody's got a doublecross to bear
You've got yours and I've got mine
So don't waste your breathe and don't waste my time
You've read the signs - let me make it clear
Abandon hope all who enter hear

      CHORUS

The only thing I learned from books
Is any fish bite if you've got good hooks
The only thing I learned from playing the blues
Is you can't make a home in someone else's shoes
With a hollow heart and a heavy head
I looked at my dog and I shot him dead

      CHORUS

And I just need a little, just need a little medication
      I need a little, need a little, I need a little medication
